Assignment #3

My personal and professional brand are very simple and straightforward; everything I do needs to be based on honest relationships. When positive and productive relationships are established, I am a firm believer that most or all other things fall into place. At this point, my brand has been established with my students and staff within my building. Instead of creating or producing my brand, I want to continue to refine my brand and deepen the roots in which these relationships were first built on. Continue to care about my students not only as pupils, but as individuals and friends. Not simply be polite and kind but generate an even more organic relationship with the people that I work with on a daily basis. The relationship is the foundation, but building upon that relationship is where the real work is put in. Once I have this brand established, it becomes infections, hopefully enough to trickle out to students and staff. Being honest, being yourself and transparent will assist in creating, building, and maintaining these relationships, and according to the Forbes article those are many of the main parts of marketing your own brand. According to the Fast Company article, you need to stand out above the rest in order to have people buy into your brand, and with these relationships I hope to stand out above others who seem generic or insincere and that is what will allow my brand to flourish above the rest.
An easy way to connect NETS-A Standard 2 to your brand is to use social media to connect users with your brand. Using Facebook or twitter to stay in contact with staff members and involve yourself in their day to day life outside of the building and school hours. Bringing in a complete digital curriculum with an iPad cart instead of books is yet another way I as an administrator can set myself apart and ensure a rigorous, relevant, and engaging way to reach all of my learners within the building.

  1. I like the concept you have of your brand being "infectious". I think that is a great way to brand yourself, and as an administrator it's a great way to develop your school's culture.

  3. I appreciate your thoughtfulness of expanding on what you do well, building relationships. Being authentic and honest about who you are is such an essential part of being an effective leader (and person).
